Ben E. Schwalm, 61, of  South Hand Street, Tower City, passed away Monday morning at his home after a brief illness.

Born in Tower City, July 11, 1947 a son of the late Ben L. and Gertrue Thompson Schwalm. 

Ben served in the Army during the Vietnam War era.

Ben was a graduate of the former Porter High School, a member of  Trinity United Church of Christ, Tower City.

Ben was formerly employed as a purchasing agent at TYCO, Lickdale.

He was an avid sports and racing fan.  He was a former coach for little leauge baseball and also coached girls softball.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Patsy A. Lutz Schwalm;  one son, Andrew P. Schwalm, Tower City;  two daughters, Amanda M. Law and her husband Thomas, Raleigh, NC and Sara E. Schwalm, Raleigh, NC.  One Granddaughter, Mackenzie Law;  One brother, Ross H. Schwalm, VA; 3 Sisters, Sue E. Myers, Maryland; Elaine K. Stine, Lebanon and Cathy A. Welsh, TN.   Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. with Rev. Edward Gobrecht.   Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Muir.  Visitation will be from 10 -11 am at the chapel.    In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tower City EMS, P.O.
