Shirley L. Kimmel, 78, formerly of Joliett passed away Friday at Healthsouth Rehab, Mechanicsburg.
Born in Donaldson, Feb. 9, 1931 a daughter of the late William and Edna Kimmel Boyd.
She was the retired owner of the former Kimmel's grocery store in Joliett.
She was a member of the Joliett United Methodist Church.
Shirley's life revolved around her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandson meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, Sherwood B. Kimmel on Dec. 12, 2006
Surviving are a daughter, Pam J. Reed and her companion Tom Kohr of Hegins, with whom Shirley resided. A son, Sherwood "Woody" Kimmel and his wife Jackie, Tower City. Three Grandchildren, Tara Flannery and her husband Dan, Harrisburg; Tommy and Reese Kimmel, Tower City. One Great Grandson, Caleb Flannery. One brother, William Boyd, Bernville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8th at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City with Rev. Donald Boyd. Burial will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10-11 at the chapel. Memorial donations in Shirley's memory should be made to the Joliett United Methodist Church c/o Shirley Yerges, 23 Joliett Street, Tremont PA 17981.
