Joseph M. Houtz, Jr., 59, of Tower City passed away early Friday morning at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg after a brief illness.

Born in Lykens, September 8, 1949, a son of the late Joseph Houtz, Sr. and Faye Soliday Hand.

He worked for over 32 years as a die mechanic at the former AMP, Inc. eventually retiring from TYCO, Electronics earlier this year.

Joe was a 1967 graduate of Williams Valley High School, and an Army National Guard Veteran.   He was a member of the Tower City Fire Company, Tower City American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose, Tower City.

Surviving are his son, Nathan Houtz and his wife Samantha, Berrysburg.  One granddaughter, Hanna Houtz whom he dearly loved.  Two brothers, Terry Adams and his wife Patty, Tower City and Harvey Adams and his wife Delores, Florida.  Several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Monday, July 27th at 7:00 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City with Rev. Edward Gobrecht.   Visiation will be from 6-7 pm.   Burial will be private at the Greenwood Cemetery.    In lieu of flowers donations should be made to: Tower City Fire Co, Social Club, Grand Avenue, Tower City PA 17980 or Carolyn Croxtan Slane Hospice Residence, 1701 Linglestown Rd.
