Barbara C. Golden, 72, of Harrisburg, formerly of Williamstown passed away unexpectedly Thursday at the Hershey Medical Center.
 
Born in Fall River, MA, March 3, 1937 a daughter of the late Leonard and Grace Murphy Phelan.
 
She graduated from the Academy of Sacred Heart in 1954 and  Salve Regina College in 1958 with a degree in education.  She taught school in Tiverton and Middletown RI, from 1958 - 1968.  Barb returned to teaching in 1982 and taught at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, later renamed Good Shepherd School in Minersville until her retiring in 1999.
 
She was a member of  St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Harrisburg.  A  longtime former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown and a social member of the Williamstown American Legion.
 
Barb's life revolved around her family.  She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She was very proud of her teaching career in the Catholic school system, who thought the world of her students, she enjoyed every day she taught.   She was an avid Red Sox baseball fan.
 
She was pre-deceased by her husband, James E. "Lefty" Golden, October 23, 2000.
 
Surviving are her children, Jay Golden and his wife Tammy, Millersburg; Christopher Golden, Altamonte Springs, Florida and Caroline Bingaman and her husband, Dan, with whom Barb resided;  Four Grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Collin Golden, Cody Shomper, Catherine and Christian Bingaman.  She is also survived by a nephew Leonard and his wife Missy and their three children, Leonard IV, Andrew and Rosemary of Dennis, MA.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Tuesday, October 20th at 10:00 am from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown with Rev. C. Anthony Miller as celebrant.   Viewing will be held Monday from 6-8 pm in the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City.    Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.   Memorial donations in her name should be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church c/o the parish office,   732 Main Street, Lykens PA 17048
