 Harold E. "Duck" Bender, 94, of Wiconisco Avenue, Tower City, passed away Wednesday night at the Tremont Health and Rehab.

Born in Orwin, September 18, 1915 a son of the late Oley R. and Mamie Schaffer Bender.

Harold retired as a crane operator with J. Robert Bazley Construction, Port Carbon.

He was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton where he was formerly in the choir, served as sunday school teacher and superintendant.   He was a member of the Swatara Lodge F&AM, Steelton, the Scottish Rites, Harrisburg and the Tremont Royal Arch Chapter, Valley View.

In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Grace Fasnacht Bender, 1985 and a son Harold Jr. in 1982.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years Ruth MacGlaughlin Messner Bender; two daughters, Carol A. Condran and Linda M. Keen both of Middletown;  two step-daugthers, Elizabeth Herb, Wiconisco and Jane Golliday, West Virginia.  Four Grandchildren, Jeffrey Condran, Tim and Mike Bender and Rebecca Hoyt.  two step-grandchildren, Mary and Daisy Golliday.  5 Great Grandchildren.  One brother, Raymond Bender, Tower City;  Five sisters, Carrie Hentz, Lebanon; Anna Yingst, Cleona; Helen Schaeffer, Pine Grove; Ruth Mentz, Florida and Dorothy Lebo, New Cumberland.   Nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 5th at 12 noon from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City with Rev. Charles Oldland.  Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin.  Viewing will be from 11 -- 12 at the chapel. Masonic Services will be conducted at 11:45 am.    In lieu of flowers donations should be made to his church, Wiconisco Street, Tower City PA 17980.
