Betty R. Derr, 85, of Williamstown, passed away Friday evening at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Lykens, July 27, 1932 , a daughter of the late Enoch "Zeke" and Ruth Shomper Lewis.
Betty was a graduate of the Overbrook High School, Philadelphia.
She was of the Methodist Faith. Before retirement she worked at the Williams Valley School District Cafeteria and the Dayton Market.
Betty's life was all about her family. She will be remembered as a wonderful mom and grandma. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Recchione; three brothers, William, John and Russell Lewis.
Surviving are her eight children, Bonnie Ciesnolevicz, Harrisburg; David Derr (Deborah), Tower City; Lynne Daniel, Williamstown; Roger Derr (Karen), Millersburg; Dorothy Derr, Tower City; Kenn Derr, Williamstown; Melanie Silver, Harrisburg and Tonya Derr, Williamstown; one brother, Darryl Lewis, Federal Way, Washington; her nine grandchildren she was extremely proud of, Mike, Cole, Lindsey, Brett, Garrett, Alyssa, Owen, Jenna and Carson. Ten Great Grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 28th at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc, Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt. Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery, Williamstown. Viewing will be from 10-11 am at the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations in Betty's memory can be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, Open Market Fund, 400 E. Grand Avenue, Tower City PA 17980.
