Bruce H. Schneck

Bruce H. Schneck, 73, of Tower City, passed away unexpectedly Saturday night shortly after arrival at Lehigh Valley Hospital - East, Pottsville.
 
Born in Muir, September, 16, 1943, a son of the late Bruce and Ruth Herb Schneck.
 
Bruce was a graduate of the former Porter Tower High School.  He attended Bloomsburg University.
 
He was a retired Prudential Insurance Agent with over 35 years of service.
 
On May 20, 2002, Bruce was elected to the Tower City Borough Council, in January 2008, he became president of the council, a position he currently held. 
 
Bruce's life revolved around the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, fly fisherman and trapper. He was a very active member of Trout Unlimited, Schuylkill County Conservation Club, Broad Mountain Hunting Club, Pumpkin Hill Conservation Club, a board member of SEDCO; a member of the Ashlar Lodge #570 F&AM, Lykens; a former member and past president of the Williams Valley School Board; a former member and past president of the Tower Porter Rotary Club.
 
He was accomplished at tying flies for fishing, and participated in clinics all over the state.
 
Bruce also had numerous articles published on the outdoors in a variety of publications.
 
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 56 years, Carol Strohecker Schneck, January 1, 2015, whom he dearly missed.
 
Surviving are his children, Dale Schneck and his wife, Paula, Heckscherville; Angela Shuey and her husband Brian, Williamstown and Charlene Bettinger, Pine Grove; a brother, Marcus Schneck and his wife Jill Carvan, Hamburg; sister-in-law, Kathy Buffington and her husband John, Tower City; his grandchildren, Nicole, Juliara and Hallie Schneck; Cody Shuey and Tyler Bettinger. Great Grandchildren, Alehra Frederick, John and Joel Lutsky and Carsyn Ebling.  Several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held Friday, February, 24th at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc. Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City.  Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6-8 pm with a Masonic service at 7:45 pm.; and, also from 10-11 am Friday morning.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory should be made to Tower-Porter EMS, P.
