Donald O. "Shifty"  Houtz, Sr., 89,  of Tower City, passed away Thursday at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born in Tower City, March 30, 1926, a son of the late William and Carrie Shuey Houtz.

Donald was a W.W.II Army Veteran, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He was retired from Ft. Indiantown Gap.

He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Tower City; Tower City American Legion,   Disabled American Veteran,  Loyal Order of Moose; Tower City and Mount Zion Fire Companies.  

He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Underkoffler Houtz, 1998.

Surviving are his two children, Cynthia Welsh and her husband John, Williamstown and Donald Houtz, Jr. and his wife Karen, Tower City; a brother Lee Houtz and his wife Betty, Tower City; four grandchildren, Heather Klinger, Michael Houtz, James Machamer and Sarah Breakiron.  7 great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 28th at 12 noon from Trinity United Church of Christ, Tower City. Burial with Military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be from 11-12 at the church. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Trinity U.C.C.,  446 E. Grand Avenue, Tower City, PA 17980.
