James Fitzpatrick Obituary


James Francis Fitzpatrick, 91, of Williamstown, passed away Friday morning at Premier at the Susquehanna Village, Millersburg.
 
Born in Williamstown, February 7, 1927, a son of the late Richard and Bridget Morrison Fitzpatrick.
 
Jim attended the former Williamstown Catholic High School. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran.
 
He retired from the Pennsylvania National Guard at Ft. Indiantown Gap, 103rd Maintenance Division, as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. Upon his retirement, Jim was honored with the renaming of the Armory Hall to Fitzpatrick Hall, the first to have this honor at Ft. Indiantown Gap.
 
Jim played the outfield for the Williamstown Twin County League from 1948-1953, which brought him great pride. He was a member of the Anthracite Concourse Pigeon Association.  He raised and raced pigeons for over 57 years. He was a very faithful fan of Notre Dame.
 
He was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown, a life member of the Williamstown American Legion.    
 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Hoffman Fitzpatrick, 2009; 5 brothers, Patrick, Cornelius, Joseph, Thomas and Richard Fitzpatrick; two sisters, Rita Langton and Mary Fitzpatrick.
 
Surviving are his eight children, Cathy Bopp, (J. Robert), New Jersey; Lori Wertz (Michael), Elizabethville; Sheila Sowers (Marlin), Williamstown; Terry Fitzpatrick, (fiancé Nancy Curtis), Harrisburg; Paul Fitzpatrick (Jayne), Palmyra, Marie Daub (Harold), Halifax; Colleen Petras, (Stephen Jr.), Ohio and Jim Fitzpatrick (Julie), Marietta.  15  Grandchildren, Melissa, Kimberly, Brian, Andrea, Marty, Michelle, Bridget, Hannah, Liam, Kayle, Megan, Steve, Max, Maja and Sahana.  12 Great Grandchildren.  Nieces and Nephews.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February, 27th at 11:00 am from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael Opoki as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in the parish cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10-11 at the church.   In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, c/o parish office, 732 Main Street, Lykens, PA 17048 or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Rd,  Harrisburg, PA 17110.  The Dimon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
