Janet L. "PeeWee" Miller, 91, of Tower City, passed away Tuesday night at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
 
Born in Porter Township, May 20, 1924, a daughter of the late Katie E. Shiley.   She was a 1942 graduate of the former Porter High School where she played on the basketball team and was the class secretary. 
 
After graduate she pursued a career in nursing by attending Lankenau Hospital of Philadelphia under the government Cadet Nurse Program.   She served at Valley Forge Army Hospital, the largest military hospital in the country.   When the oral polio vaccine was first developed she assisted with the community distribution.  She worked at Zelden Clinic in Lykens and spent forty years as charge nurse of emergency room at Lebanon Valley General Hospital.
 
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City.
 
Her greatest joy was her family.  She attended every activity her children and grandchildren were involved in.  She especially enjoyed attending soccer games and band competitions.  She enjoyed traveling and was an excellent dancer.  She was a charter member of the Women's Memorial Foundation.
 
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Marlin Miller in 2012; two sisters, Esther Stiely and Ruth Klinger.
 
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Merris, Leesport and Loryane Drumheller and her husband Dohn, Tower City; four grandchildren, Anthony and Thomas Drumheller, Tower City, Jennifer Merris Dolk, Lititz and Chrissy Merris, Leesport; three great grandchildren, Dragan Drumheller; Maryn and Barrett Stamm.
