John W. Yanoscak

November 1, 1924 ~ March 19, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old


John W. Yanoscak, 92, of Tower City, passed away Sunday, March 19th at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

Born in Wiconisco, November 1, 1924, a son of the late Michael and Mary Plichta Yanoscak.

John was a graduate of the former Wiconisco High School. He proudly served in United States Army Air Corp. during World War II.

He was a retired Nursing Assistant from the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

John was a member of the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Lykens. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Tower City and a member of the Williamstown American Legion.  

John enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, he was very proud of his grandchildren and his great granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Alfreda C. Parkowski Yanoscak; five brothers, Eugene, Michael, George, Andrew and Frank Yanoscak; six sisters, Mary Epiritu, Agnes Usaka, Sister Carlotta, RSM, Sister George RSM, Theresa Yanoscak and Pauline Shadle.

Surviving are a son, F. Michael Parkowski and his wife Linda, Delaware; two daughters, Michele Reed and her husband Michael, Tower City and Stephanie Carl and her husband Roger, Millersburg. Six grandchildren; Michael and Alexandra Parkowski, Kelly Lee, Kara Kerstetter, Jonathan Carl and Katherine Brosius; five great granddaughters, Kayla and Elizabeth Parkowski, Ava and Alexis Lee and Grace Carl.  Nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 24th at 12:30 pm from Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Lykens with Rev. C. Anthony Miller as celebrant. Burial with Military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City. Viewing will be from 11:30-12:30 at the church.  In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Mercy Center, P.O.
