Joseph F. Thornton, Sr., 72, of Tower City, passed away Wednesday at the Harrisburg Hospital.

Born in Chester on July 21, 1943, a son of the late George and Naomi Blackburn Thornton.

He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Joe was last employed by the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and Visco Power Plant.

In addition to his parents he was predeceaed by sister, Darlene Thornton.

Surviving are his children, Susan Probert and Marie Thornton both of Eddystone PA; Joseph Thornton Jr. and his wife Elaine,  Wiconisco; Dominick Thornton, Williamstown, Cheyenne, Dakota and Cherokee Thornton all of Tower City; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.  a brother, George Thornton, Delaware;  his former wives, Marlene Machamer Probert Thornton and Brenda Thornton.  Nieces, nephews and cousins.
