Luther L. "Lut" Wise, 84, of Tower City passed away Tuesday at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
Born in Reinerton, May 14, 1930, a son of the late Albert Ray and Olive Seiler Wise.
He was a graduate of Porter Tower High School where he excelled in athletics. After high school he played semi-pro football.
He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War; he also was an Army National Guard Veteran serving with 131st Transportation Company, Williamstown where he was deployed to Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf.
He was retired from the former AMP, Inc., Tower City.
He was a life member of the Tower City American Legion, Tower City Loyal Order of Moose and the NRA. He had also been very active with the Porter Tower Recreation League.
Lut was a coach and mentor in baseball and football leagues in the community. He was the biggest fan and supporter of his children and grandchildren in their sporting events.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helga Eheleuther Wise; his children, Jeff (Judy) Wise, Bernville; Janet (Rock) Mrakovich, Middletown; Jerry (Carol) Wise, Pine Grove and Jesse Wise, Lewisburg. Two brothers, Stanley (Doll) Wise, Mable and Fred (Judy) Wise, Tower City; 8 grandchildren; Bryon, Brittney, Janelle, Jeremy, Cameron, Savannah, Justin and Dillon.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 18th at 7 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Tower City. Burial with military honors will be Friday December 19th at 11:30 am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
