Marian Pricilla McCready, 83, of Williamstown, passed away Tuesday morning at Heritage Mill Personal Care Home, Tower City.
 
Born in Millersburg, December 27, 1932 a daughter of the late George and Celetus Carvell.
 
She was a 1950 graduate of Millersburg High School.  Marian worked for the Commonwealth of PA, Harrisburg, Raudenbush Fabrics and J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills, Williamstown and the Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
 
She was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school for over 50 years, was the director of the children's choir and was in charge of the children's ministry.  She was instrumental in forming the Williams Valley Band Boosters, where she held the position of treasure, secretary, vice-president and president in consecutive years.   She also acquired the concession stand for the band boosters to operate during football games.  Along with her husband, Donald "Gus" McCready, she operated the concession stand at the Williamstown Community Swimming Pool for many years.   She was member of the former Liberty Hose Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as chaplain.  She was an accomplished pianist who preformed in many recitals as a teenager.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald "Gus" McCready, February 15, 1985; sisters, Carolyn Forney, Nancy Gaspari and Pat Lebo.
 
Surviving are her sons, John (Elise) and Tom (Wendy) and her daughter Carol Sitler (Rich), all of Williamstown.  five grandchildren, Sarah Nyer, Donny and Logan McCready, all of Williamstown; Allyson McCready, Reading and Rachel Sitler, Houghton MI;  seven great grandchildren, Sam Koppenhaver, Olivia, Evangeline and Amelia Nyer; Sidney , Autumn and Scott McCready all of Williamstown; two brothers, Tom Carvell, Elizabethville and George Carvell, Millersburg.  Nieces and nephews.
 
Services will be held Saturday, September 24th at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt.  Visitation will be from 10-11 at the chapel.  Private burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery, Williamstown.
