Richard J. Riskis, 88, of Tower City passed away peacefully Friday, January 19th at his residence.
He was born, August 23, 1929, in Tower City to the late Stiney J. and Kathryn Lebo Riskis
Richard graduated from the Tower City High School in 1947.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran honorably serving his country 44 months, 21 of which were spent with the occupational forces in Okinawa. While in the Air Force, Rich was a member of the profound Air Force Baseball team.
He was a retired letter carrier with the Tower City Post Office retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a devoted member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Chapel, Tower City. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 500 of Harrisburg, PA, and was a lifetime member of the Tower City American Legion.
Rich was an avid Notre Dame Football and New York Yankee Supporter.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Harviletz, December 28, 2015 and a brother John Riskis in 1968.
Surviving are a son, David Riskis and his wife Theresa, Boiling Springs and a daughter, Teresa Payne and her husband Jack, Elysburg. His four grandsons that he was extremely proud of and meant the world to him; Matthew and Brett Payne, Connor and John Riskis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 27th at10 am from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Chapel with Rev. Jason Stokes as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Williamstown. Viewing will be Saturday from 9-9:45 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc. Tower City.
