Shirley H. Lawrence, 86, of Williamstown, passed away Sunday evening at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Williamstown, January 20, 1929, a daughter of the late James Roy and Annie A. Warfield Host.
Shirley was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for Unrivaled Hose Company, Williamstown, the former Williamstown Bank and last as secretary for Commonwealth of PA, Labor and Industries.
She was a faithful member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church, where she previously served on numerous committees, including church treasurer. She was also a member of the Good Times Senior Citizens, AFSCME retiree and a proud sponsoring member of the USO.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and sister. She was very patriotic, and very proud of veterans. Shirley believed in and supported the WW II National Monument, since her brother was killed in action.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter, JoAnn Lawrence; brothers, James, Robert and Jack Host.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Lawrence, to whom she would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on the 16th of January; a son, James M. Lawrence, Williamstown; a brother Harold Host, Michigan and a sister, Gladys Williams, Herford.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 14th at 11:00 am from the Williamstown United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:30-11 at the church. Private burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Williamstown United Methodist Church, East Street, Williamstown, PA 17098 or Sun Health & Hospice, 61 Duke Street, Northumberland, PA 17857.
