Shirley A. Minnig

Shirley A. Minnig, 86, formerly of Tremont, passed away Thursday evening at the Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron,  with her children at her side.  Prior to residing at Maple Farm, Shirley lived with her daughter in Ephrata.
 
Born in Tower City, June 16, 1931, a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Shomper Schrope.
 
Shirley was a 1949 graduate of the former Tower City High School;  She also graduated from Temple University as a dental hygienist.
 
For over 35 years, Shirley assisted her husband Bill, in the family business,  W.E. Minnig Funeral Home, Tremont, retiring in 1988.   She is remembered for greeting family and friends with a warm smile and a comforting touch in their time of need.
 
She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Tremont;  former member of Order of Eastern Star and the Tremont Women's Club.
 
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two husbands, William Minnig, 1990 and Karl Leuschner, 2010;  a son, Neil Minnig, 2011.
 
Surviving are her two children, Ellen Reigel and her husband Kenneth, Ephrata and Alan Minnig and his wife Dr. Melissa Burke, Schuylkill Haven; two sisters,  Sylvia Eisenacher, Bellefonte and Martha Evans, Tower City; a brother, Charles Schrope, Bellefonte;  five grandchildren, Steve Shuey, Kerilee Shuey, Kristen Sauder, Billy Minnig and Saragrace Minnig;  two great granddaughters.
 
Funeral services will he held Tuesday, January 23rd at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc. Tower City.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Tremont.  Viewing will be from 10-11 am Tuesday at the chapel.  Memorial donations in Shirley's name should be made to, St. John's Lutheran Church, 6 West Main Street, Tremont, PA 17981.   To sign the guest book visit www.dimonfuneralhome.com
