William D. "Gock" Hand, 72, of Dietrich Avenue, Tower City, passed away Thursday night at his home.
Born in Tower City, January 8, 1944, a son of Erma Seiger Hand, Camp Hill and the late William Lawrence Hand.
Bill was a 1963 graduate of the former Porter Tower High School. He was also a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College where he had a degree in Tool and Die making.
He was retired from the former AMP, Inc., Tower City where he was a tool and die maker and master scheduler.
Bill was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin. He was also a former coach for Porter Tower Little League and Teener Baseball.
Bill was a race car enthusiast, enjoying modfied and sprint car racing. He was a race car mechanic for many years. He also enjoyed racing remote control cars with his sons. He also enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his father he was predeceased by his sister, Marcia Cooper.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Kathryn Mary Bohr Hand, to whom they would have celebrated 48 years of marriage in June; two sons, Ryan D. Hand and his wife Mary and Kirby M. Hand, both of Tower City; a granddaughter, Kayla Hand. a brother Paul Hand and his wife Darlene, Linglestown. Nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 18th at 11:00 am from St. Peter's United Church of Christ with Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the church. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to St. Peter's United Church 427 Dietrich Avenue, Tower City PA 17980 or Covenant Care Hospice,1223 Pottsville Pike, Shoemakersville, PA 19555.
