William J. Houtz, Sr., 76, of Williamstown, passed away Thursday at his home after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born in Elizabethville, February 3, 1942, a son of the late Charles and Esther Miller Houtz.
He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard, 131 Transportation Company, Williamstown.
Bill was a retired truck driver with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Elizabethville.
He was of the protestant faith; he enjoyed spending time with his family, he was very proud of his grandchildren.
Shirley would like to thank her family for the wonderful care given to Bill these past few months, especially her son-in-law, Chris Keiter, for all he has done.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Shirley A. Michaels Houtz; his children, William Houtz, Jr, and his companion Debra Jillard; John Houtz; Trudy Houtz, companion David Moyer; Barbie Merwine; April Keiter and her husband Chris; step-son, Charles Pinkerton and his wife Molly, all of Williamstown; one sister, Clara Ruddy, Lewisburg; 15 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bill's life will be held Wednesday, February 21st at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc, Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt. Burial with military honors will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 10-11 am at the chapel.
