Earl E. "Hess" Gehres, Jr., 83, of Donaldson, passed away Saturday morning at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
 
Born in Donaldson, July 15, 1933, a son of the late Earl, Sr. and Corine Reiner Gehres.
 
He was a graduate of the former Tremont High School.   Hess was United States Army Veteran.
 
He retired as a nursing assistant from the Lebanon VA Medical Center after 34 years of service.
 
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Donaldson, a member for over 35 years of  the Swatara Lodge, F&AM  #267, Tremont and the Porter Tower Lions Club.  He also attended the Schuylkill Haven First United Methodist Church.
 
He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying hunting and fishing.
 
Surviving are his wife, Pastor Nancy A. Brinser Gehres; two sons, John Gehres and his wife Kelita, Donaldson and Thomas Gehres and his wife, Tanya, Colorado;  Five grandchildren.   Several step sisters and and step brothers.
 
Masonic services will  begin at 11:00 am Thursday, June 1st from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc. Tower City  Religious services will follow.  Burial with military honors will be in the Fairview Cemetery.  Viewing will be from  10-11 am  at the chapel.     In lieu of flowers donations should be made to,  Swatara Lodge, Main Street, Tremont PA 17981 or the Zion Lutheran Church, Center Street, Donaldson PA 17981.
