Rodney R. Wagner, Jr., 52, of Texas, formerly of Muir, passed away unexpectedly Thursday May 2nd in Texas.
Rod was born in Pottsville on September 2, 1966 a son of Avalon Cortez Wagner, Muir and the late Rodney Wagner, Sr.
Rod graduated from Williams Valley High School in 1984. Following graduation he enlisted with United States Air Force where he proudly served for 21 years and was a Gulf War Veteran. He was currently employed in the private sector at Randolph Air Force Base, Universal City, Texas.
Rod went back to college and graduated from the University of Houston and earned a degree in Hotel Management in May 2018. Upon his retirement, he was looking forward to owning a food truck and sharing the many dishes he learned as a Chef.
He loved his family, his country and his friends. He enjoyed golfing, playing poker and living life to the fullest.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Mae Minnich Cortez and Robert and Betty Wolfgang Wagner.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 33 years, Lucia De Leonardis Wagner; his two beloved daughters, Nicolette and Katrina Wagner, all of Texas, two sisters; Mechele and April Wagner, both of Tower City. Nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A Celebration of Rod's life will be held on Saturday, May 25th, at 11:00 am from the Lighthouse Community Church, 107 W. Wiconisco Street, Muir, PA with Bill and Monica Romberger officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 - 11 am at the church. Following the services a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at the church pavilion. Memorial donations in Rod's name should be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
