William O. Heitzman, 87, of Tower City, passed away Saturday at his home.
Born in Shamokin, January 16, 1931, a son of the late Richard and Annie Schmaus Heitzman.
Bill was a 1948 graduate of the former Coal Township High School, Shamokin, PA.
He was a Korean Veteran of the US Navy, January 1951- November 1954, serving on the US Destroyer (USS J.C. Owens)
He retired in 1993 from Ft. Indiantown Gap where he worked for 21 years; retiring with 36 total years, he worked as a Boiler Plant Operator.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Tower City and resided in Tower City since 1972.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Rozoskie Heitzman, 2008; three sisters, Anna Mace, Ida Yost and Elsie Hess; five brothers, Richard, Walter, Cyril, Robert and Donald Heitzman.
Surviving are his devoted son, Karl Heitzman, Tower City. Nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 19th at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Pastor Joel McGarvey. Burial with military honors will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Sunbury. Viewing will be from 10-11 am at the chapel.
