Anna Smith Obituary


Anna Mae Smith, 87, of Tower City, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at the Hershey Medical Center with family by her side.
 
Born in Muir, September 16, 1933, a daughter of the late Clair G. Shomper and Anna Gabel Smith.
 
She was a 1951 graduate of Porter High School.  Following graduation Anna Mae worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry. She retired from the Garnet Valley School District cafeteria after 22 years of service.
 
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton. Anna Mae enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and was very proud of her swan collection.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Smith, 2015; a son, James L. Smith, 1999; two brothers, Clair "Buddy" Shomper and Ronald Shomper; two sisters, Norma Reedy and Violet Chatcho.
 
Surviving are her daughter, Cathy Machamer and her husband Ben, Williamstown; two granddaughters, Justine Machamer, Chambersburg and Courtney Machamer, Williamstown. Several nieces and nephews.
 
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Anna Mae's memory can be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1931 Wiconisco Street, Tower City, PA 17980.
