Betty M. "Betz" Bellis, 97, a lifelong resident of Lykens, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at UPMC Harrisburg.
Born in Lykens on Wednesday, April 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Daniels Zerby. She attended the former Lykens High School.
Betz was a retired seamstress from the former Lebro Shirt Factory, Lykens, where she worked for many years. She was also a former member of the Millersburg Moose, Gratz VFW, and the Wiconisco and Lykens Fire Companies.
She will be remembered for her strong independence. Betz could often be found doing word searches, sitting on her porch, coloring, and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies. She loved playing cards, especially Skip-Bo. Betz always looked forward to ending every night with her two nightcaps.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bellis, Sr.; two brothers, Charles and Ronald Zerby; a great granddaughter, Jovanna Allen.
Surviving are her three children, James Bellis, Jr. and his wife Debra, Lykens, Scott Bellis and his wife Karina, Wiconisco, and Debbie Ressler, Wiconisco; six grandchildren, Brian, Amy, Mandy, Tannar, Sadie, and Maddie; nine great grandchildren, Jaelyn, Journi, Alex, Brendon, Noah, Jonah, Meghan, Miley, and Annabelle.
