Blair Dietrich Obituary

Blair H. Dietrich, 96, of Big Run, passed away early Thursday, November 28, 2024 at his son's home in Loyalton.

Blair was born in Gratz on Sunday, October 14, 1928, a son of the late Clarence and Helen Bowers Dietrich. He was a 1946 graduate of the former Lykens High School.

Blair was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.

He retired from the Reiff and Nestor Company, Lykens where he worked for 37 years.

He was a charter member of St. Christopher Lutheran Church, Lykens where he formerly served on the council. Blair was a 71 year member of the following organizations; Ashlar Lodge #570, F&AM Lykens, Harrisburg Consistory and the Zembo Shrine. He was also a member of the Gratz VFW, Millersburg Legion and a charter member of the Upper Dauphin Shrine Club.

Blair was a former scoutmaster of the Lykens Boy Scouts and he received the Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow.   

His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of his world.   He was very proud of the 1952 Ford Tractor and enjoyed taking his grandchildren and great grandchildren for rides. Blair could often be found working on projects around his home and enjoyed working on small engine repairs.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Shultz, 2021.


He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Klinger Dietrich to whom he would have celebrated 74 years of marriage on January 26th; his two children, Karl Dietrich and his wife Robin, Loyalton and Karen Dietrich-Shultz and her husband Robert, West Virginia. Grandchildren Andrew Shultz and his wife Brittany, Allison Shultz and her fiance, Seth Gottron, Danelle Dietrich-Reinsburrow and her husband Joshua and Sarah Dietrich-Maurer and her husband Blake; five great grandchildren Henry, Lily, Carter, Greyson, Declan.


Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 11:00 am from St. Christopher Lutheran Church, Lykens. A visitation will be held from 10-11 am.  Immediately following the service a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at the Dayton Hall, Dayton Street, Williamstown.
