Bruce L. Bender 68, of Muir, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at St. Lukes Hospital, Orwigsburg.
Born in Lykens, July 23, 1953, a son of the late Leon Bender and Chloe Hand Bender Lubold.
Bruce was a 1971 graduate of Williams Valley High School. He was last employed as a core driller at Boring Soil and Testing.
He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
On March 28, 1987, Bruce was in an accident that left him a quadriplegic. For the past 34 years he lived life to the fullest with the help and devotion of his wife Sandy, who took tremendous care of Bruce.
He was a life member of the Muir Fire Company. He formerly raced cars, even owning his own racecar. He enjoyed watching TV, especially racing, the news and following the stock market. He could often be seen on his wheelchair going throughout the town of Muir.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step father, Alvin Lubold and a brother Terry Bender.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Sandra L. Fetterhoff; a son Bruce Bender II (Melissa), Tower City; a daughter, Hope Zerby (Chuck), Muir; two grandsons; Bruce L. Bender III, Muir and Jonathan M. Bender (Keira) Williamstown; a great granddaughter, Mercedes; a brother, Scott Bender (Crystal), Wiconisco. Nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews including, Kaeden, whom Bruce thought the world of.
Following Bruce's wishes all services will be private.
