Charlotte R. Zerby, 83, of Lykens, passed away Tuesday morning, March 18, 2025 at her home with her family by her side after a long and courageous fight against cancer.
Born in Joliett on Friday, September 19, 1941, a daughter of the late Roy and Ethel Updegrove Yerges. Charlotte was a 1959 graduate of the former Porter Tower High School and a graduate of cosmetology school where she became a licensed beautician.
She was a retired supervisor at the former Lebro Shirt Factory, Lykens and was also a self-employed beautician for many years.
Charlotte was a faithful member of the Lykens United Methodist Church.
She will be remembered for always putting her families needs above her own, her family was her life. She also had a love for fishing, and many of her fondest memories were made casting a line with her family by her side.
Known affectionately as "Mem", she wore this title with pride and joy. To her, being "Mem" wasn’t just a name—it was her greatest honor, and she embraced it wholeheartedly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Zerby, Sr., 2015, a great grandson, Chet Hubler; three sisters, Florence Tubbs, Lillian Shepler and Catherine Rogers; three brothers, Harry, Arthur and Roy Yerges.
Charlotte is survived by her three sons, Ronald Zerby, Jr. and his wife Charlene, Lykens, Daniel Zerby and his wife Heidi, Gratz and Billy Zerby and his wife Jessica, Powells Valley; six grandchildren, Shane, Shannon, Zach, Cody, Colten and Hunter; 5 great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jordan, Jacob, Tyler and Jacob; one great great grandson, Axel, a brother Charles Yerges and his wife Shirley, Joliett, a sister, Sandra Schlein and her husband Robert, Lincoln.
