Eleanor Roque, 79, of Elizabethville, passed away Saturday night, September 28, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Eleanor was born in Scranton on Tuesday, April 3, 1945, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Matthis Roque.
Eleanor worked in numerous shoe factories in Millersburg, including Muskin Shoe Factory and Johnson Bailey (Kinney) Shoes, Millersburg. She last worked as a private caregiver.
She was of the Methodist faith, attending Grace United Methodist Church, Millersburg.
She enjoyed doing needlepoint, puzzles, and gardening. In her younger years, she was known for her love for dancing and could often be found out square dancing. Above all else, Eleanor's family was her number one priority. She made many sacrifices throughout her life for her daughters, always putting them above her own needs. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her immense joy in her later years.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Rena Marie Lubold; her siblings, Catherine Cherundolo, Lillian Auriemma, Thomas Roque, and Rose DeNunzio.
Surviving are her two daughters, Tina Schlegel, Elizabethville, and Brenda Hoover (Robert Opanel), Tower City; her grandchildren, Sonya Barge (Nathan), Benjamin Schlegel, Taylor Hoover (Patrick Wirt), Kali Schlegel, and Bryant Hoover (Alyssa Miller); great grandchildren, Brody, Braxton, and Amara Barge, Henry Wirt, and Ariah Hoover; siblings, Joseph Roque, Miriam Stepanavitch, and Josey Soprano; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Eleanor's life will be held Sunday October 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City. A visitation will be held from 1-2 at the chapel.
