Elizabeth J. "Betty" Brown, 96, of Tower City, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Heritage Mill Personal Care Home.
Betty was born on Friday, December 14, 1928, a daughter of the late David and Charlotte "Lottie" Underkoffler Hay.
She was a 1946 graduate of the former Porter Township High School, and then went on to attend Business School.
Betty dedicated her life to her family, all while holding down numerous jobs, including working at MansonWear, Bestok's garment factories, a local dry cleaner, and lastly working and retiring from the Williams Valley School District cafeteria.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, and the former Porter Tower Lionettes. Family being her number one priority, she was involved with all her daughters' activities throughout their time in school and in life in general. She was a talented seamstress who could sew anything she set her mind to. Betty enjoyed spending time camping along the Juniata and Susquehanna Rivers. She also looked forward to attending antique car shows with her husband, where they would often enter their own car.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kera Lynn Koppenhaver, 2023.
Betty is survived by her husband, George "Peanut" Brown to whom she would have celebrated 75 years of marriage on August 29th; her three daughters, Cheryl L. Fulk and her husband Paul, Halifax, Debra D. Daniels wife of the late H. Fred, and Lori J. Koppenhaver and her husband, Jim, Halifax; five grandchildren, Ginger Heckert, Adam Koppenhaver, Samantha Schoffstall, Tara Shultz and James Schoffstall; five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Betty's life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City. A visitation will be held from 10:30-11 at the chapel. Immediately following the service there will be meal and time of fellowship at the social hall of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
