Elmer E. Keiter, 75, of Halifax, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.
Born at home in Halifax on Friday, January 5, 1951, a son of the late Donald and Betty Leffler Keiter. He was a 1970 graduate of Central Dauphin High School.
Elmer had a very strong work ethic, having many jobs throughout his life. He started working in high school at the former Robinson's Grocery Store. Elmer was a construction foreman and owned his own business, Keiter Construction, where he built numerous homes, even remodeling his own home. He also was skilled in plumbing and heating. He was retired from the Taylor-Wharton Steel Company, Harrisburg.
He was a member of the Galeton Moose Lodge, the Amvets of Millsboro Delaware, the Dauphin - Middle Paxton Fire Company, and the Halifax VFW.
Elmer was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, fourwheeling, snowmobiling, and spending time at Hillbilly Heaven Camp in Potter County. He enjoyed listening to country music, cheering on Jeff Gordon at all the NASCAR races, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. In his younger years, he could often be found dirt track racing and coaching/umpiring for the Halifax Baseball Little League. Above all else, his family was his world. Watching his grandchildren at all their sporting events brought him great joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle whom he was very close to, Margaret and Roy Klinger; an infant brother, Donald Keiter; a brother-in-law, Brent Daniels.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 50 years, Treasure Daniels Keiter; his son, Jeremy Keiter and his fiancee Devon Curtis, Ashland; his daughter, Kylie Keiter and her fiancee Andrew Riehl, Harrisburg; a granddaughter Cassidy Bowen and her fiancee Tyler Duncan, Mount Joy; a grandson, Jack Keiter, Ashland; two sisters, Deborah Wevodau and her husband Steve, and Sharon Weaver and her husband David, both of Dauphin; two sister-in-laws, Joyce Reed and her husband George, Wiconisco, and Tina Daniels, Lykens; his grandpup, Oliver Bean; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
