Ernest Weist, II Obituary

Retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant Ernest G. Weist, II, of Williamstown, formerly of Lykens passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center following a courageous fight against cancer.

Ernie was born on August 16, 1946 in Harrisburg to the late Ernest J. and Orpha Erdman Weist. He was a 1964 graduate of Lykens High School.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1986, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He spent his last three years working at the Pentagon and retired after his last tour in Sicily. Following his years of service, he retired the the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

Ernie always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed being a dog Dad to his boys Sammie and Roscoe, shooting darts, and picking the hits as DJ Ernie on the jukebox.

Ernie was a member of the Lykens United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Elizabethville American Legion Post #404 where he served as past Commander, Jr. Vice Commander, and Secretary. He was also a life member of the Gratz VFW Post 2385.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace O'Neill (James) and Carole Long.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dinna Flores Weist; children, Carl Weist (James), Lykens, Colin Weist (Jennifer), Williamstown, Erika Draper (Jason), Tower City, Tina Darden, Millersburg, Jeanne Riley (JR), Kansas, Thelma Nichols (Doyal), Tennessee, David Bray, New Mexico, Laura Dickinson (Chad), Tower City, Ernest Weist III, Tower City, and Jennifer Esquivel (Salvador) Lebanon; grandchildren, Dylan, Jordan, Colin, Milo, Madelynn, Cheyenne, Jason, Kristine, Sean, Kayla, Steven, Katelynn, Ashley, Matthew, Melissa, Anthony, Militia, David, Brianna, Dagan, Tayah, Andrew, Shanika, Shantel, Alexis, Austin, Alyvia, Carla, Lauren, Hannah, Selena, Fatima, Monserrat and Elizabeth; 18 great grandchildren; a sister Janice Welker (Rex), Lykens, and a brother-in-law, Robert Long, Millersburg; his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm from the Lykens United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm at the church. Ernie will be laid to rest with military honors provided by the Gratz VFW in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
