Ethel E. Evans

Ethel E. Evans, 95, a lifelong resident of Lykens, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Ethel was born on Friday, February 13, 1931, a daughter of the late George and Florence Boyer Hoffman. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Lykens High School.

Ethel dedicated her life to being a homemaker to her family. Over the years, she held several secretarial jobs including Bell Telephone and The Lykens Dairy. She and her daughter, Vicki, owned and operated the former Creekside Ceramics in Lykens for several years.  

She was a very active and faithful member of the Lykens United Methodist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday School and belonged to the women's society.

Ethel was also a former Girl Scout Leader and Judge of Elections in Lykens.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her. Her favorite hobbies included ceramics, crocheting, knitting, and quilting.  She took pride in creating beautiful handmade treasures.  Ethel will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Buzz" Evans, 2008; a son, Stephen Evans, 2009; a son-in-law, Steven Davis, 2025; three sisters, Dolores Stroup, Elaine Antes, and Mary Derrick; three brothers, Marlin "Pete" Hoffman, Lester Hoffman, and Roy Hoffman.

She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Laudenslager and her husband Harry, and Lori Davis;  her daughter-in-law, Barbara Evans; her sister, Loretta "Judy" Stickler; her brother, Paul Hoffman and his wife Sis; five grandchildren, Michael Laudenslager and his wife Kathy, Christie Mattern and her husband Ryan, Jennifer Wert and her husband Andy, Christopher Evans and his wife Tania, Zachary Davis and his companion Lauren; five great grandchildren, Kaci and Austin Mattern, Katelyn and Emily Wert and Molly Evans; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Ethel's Life will be held on Monday, August 10th at 11:00 AM at the Lykens United Methodist Church, with her pastor, Pastor John Lesher officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11 at the church. At the conclusion of the service, a luncheon and time of fellowship will follow in the church social hall. Following the luncheon, Ethel will be laid to rest at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery alongside her husband.
