Frederick L. Weaver, 87, of Elizabethville, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 31st at UPMC West Shore, Mechanicsburg.
Born June 16th, 1936 to Harry Sr. & Winnie (Leitzel) Weaver. He was the 3rd of 5 brothers. Harry Jr (Bud), Robert, Paul, and James.
Fred spent his early years helping in the family business, playing baseball, and performing in school plays. He was a graduate of the former Elizabethville High School. Fred was also an Army National Guard Veteran. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Berrysburg, and this is where he met his cherished wife of 66 years, Jean M. (Buffington). They were married on July 27, 1957.
Fred served the Lykens Valley as a butcher and partner in the family business, H.E. Weaver and Sons. His work ethic and love of the business and community was evident in his tireless efforts to provide the best possible service and product to his patrons. He did this for over 40 years. Here he worked side-by-side with his brothers, his wife, and the rest of the family.
Fred was a lifelong member of St. John’s (The Hill) Church, Berrysburg. He loved his church family and served in many roles. He was a dedicated member of the Elizabethville’s Lions Club and the Lykens Valley Campground Association. He also served the community by delivering Meals-On-Wheels as well as providing transportation to medical appointments for various individuals in the valley.
In his free time, Fred enjoyed vacationing with his family, driving his antique cars, watching the Phillies, and taking care of the beloved pet spaniels that were an important part of his life.
He was a man of many titles; Son of God, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend to all. Fred always had a joke and smile to share especially with complete strangers.
Fred was preceded in death by his loving parents and dear brothers Paul, Harry Jr (Bud), and stepsister, Phyllis Brenneman. They welcome him with open arms and a love we cannot yet imagine.
Fred is survived by his wife, Jean. His daughters, his pride and joy, Angela and Son-in-Law James English Jr. of York, Pa. and Marlene and Son-in-Law Ty Bordner of Adamstown, MD.
