George K Ferree, Jr, 75, of Lebanon, PA departed this world on Saturday, October 7, 2023, with his loving wife by his side, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
George, or Squeak, as his family called him, was born December 2, 1947, in Lock Haven, PA. He was the eldest son of the late George Sr and Thelma Shirk Ferree. He was a 1967 graduate of Bald Eagle-Nittany High School, Mill Hall.
At a young age, George worked for various dairy farms, but eventually decided to try his hand at truck driving. Known as the Diesel Farmer, he began his career with McLean Trucking, West Middlesex, PA. After several years, he was transferred to Lebanon, PA and joined with Yellow Freight Trucking. George drove for over 41 years, earning several “Million Miles” awards for safe driving.
Once he retired, he drove bus for COLT and Brightbill. He drove ambulance service for Central Medical and finally school bus for Cornwall-Lebanon School District.
George will be remembered for his love of family, children, country music, sports, and animals of all kinds. He enjoyed working on cars, road trips, family vacations up and down the east coast, Myrtle Beach, and dining out, where he loved to tease his favorite waitresses.
George is survived by his loving wife and lifelong partner of over 57 years, Judy C Moore Ferree. They had three children, Lisa Daly (Doug Whitehead), Harrisburg, PA; Randy Ferree (Jess Kloiber), Lebanon, PA; and Karen Galiano (Will), Lancaster, PA; five grandchildren, Shasta, Shandel, Skyler, Shay and Lexis. Three brothers, Larry Ferree (Quentin Stocum), Mill Hall PA; Gary Ferree (Vicky), Avis, PA; and Thomas Ferree (Janet), Kutztown, PA and one sister, Mary Ann Ferree, Beech Creek, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
