Glen "John" Underkoffler Obituary

Glen E. "John" Underkoffler, 85, of Lykens, passed away Saturday evening, May 23, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Shamokin on Saturday, November 23, 1940, a son of the late Glen I. and Olive Klock Underkoffler. 

John was a 1959 graduate of the former Williamstown High School. He had a passion for education and learning, receiving Law and You certificates from the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit in 1982 and 1983. 

He was a a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

John was a dedicated and loyal employee of Underkoffler Coal Company, Lykens, where he worked since the age of 16. Following the closing of Underkoffler's, he began working for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

He as a life member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamstown. John was also a member of the Williamstown American Legion and the GPAA.

For many years, John assisted his uncle Hersh raising Arabian horses at the Fairlane Stables in Lykens. He and Andrea could often be found antiquing on the weekends and spending time at their cottage at Knoebel's Grove. He also enjoyed doing woodworking and carpentry.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Andrea D. Shreffler Underkoffler; a son, Jeffrey Underkoffler, Lykens; a daughter, Amanda Brobst (Mark), Bloomsburg; two step-grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one step great great grandson.

Following John's wishes, there will be no formal services.
