Irene Miller Obituary

Irene H. Miller, 81, of Palo Alto, passed away early Saturday morning, August 30, 2025, at the Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Reading on Wednesday, March 22, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Henry Fisher and Eva Mae (Goodman) Jones.

Irene attended Reading High School, later obtaining her GED. As a mother, she was a Cub Scout den mother. She was also a graduate of Empire Beauty School, Pottsville, where she earned her hairdresser's license. She was also a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She worked as an aide in various industries. Whether she was working as a home health aide or in the schools as a bus or teaching aide, she was always helping people.

Irene accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1972 while attending Reedsville E.C. Church. She labored to take her children to church every Sunday. Later, she was a member of the Word of Life Baptist Church, Pottsville. She loved Christ & loved being in God’s house. She would always make food for church potlucks or bake sales. She will be remembered as an excellent baker.

She enjoyed staying active and going on walks. Irene was also an animal lover. She adopted many stray cats over the years, and she could often be found bird watching. In her younger years, Irene enjoyed crocheting and knitting, as well as spending time in the outdoors, whether it be swimming or gardening. She played shortstop for the Reedsville E.C. Church softball team. She was an avid baseball fan – favoring the NY Yankees! (Many an umpire’s call was scorned by her shouting “He was safe by a mile!” at our TV, growing up.)

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Kruppenbach, Sr.; five brothers, Bertram, David, Albert, Robert, and John Jones; three grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, John Kruppenbach and his wife Christina, and Tracy Morgan and her husband Randy; grandchildren, Brittany, William, Kaitlynn, Joshua, Ethan, Mark, Hannah, and Noella; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Jones; a sister, Catherine Jones Strause.
