Jean Koppenhaver Obituary

Jean L. Koppenhaver, 85, formerly of Wiconisco, passed away peacefully Friday November 24, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wiconisco, September 26, 1938, a daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Houtz Ferron. Jean was a 1956 graduate of Wiconisco High School.

She was a retired unit secretary with the former Susquehanna Lutheran Village Nursing Home, Millersburg.

Jean was a very active, life member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Wiconisco, where she was a member of the choir, a Sunday School teacher, dedicated kitchen crew member, and served as the church secretary. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.

Jean was very proud to be a lifelong resident of Wiconisco. She could always be found in her community, whether it be volunteering with Meals on Wheels, serving as a Judge of Elections, or just sitting on her back porch. Her life revolved around helping others. She always was willing to take friends to appointments and would help out when needed. Above all else, Jean's family was her world. She never missed a sporting or musical event for her children or grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as "everybody's grandma."

She was an avid sports fan, specifically rooting for the Phillies and Penn State. Jean loved crocheting, music, and was an amazing cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LaMarr L. Koppenhaver, 1985.

Surviving are her three children, Gregory S. Koppenhaver, Redondo Beach, California, Gary L. Koppenhaver and his wife Annette, Mifflinburg, and Lori S. Hoffman and her husband Ken, Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren, Christian G. Koppenhaver and Scott T. Koppenhaver, both of Redondo Beach, Taylor J. Hoffman, Arlington, Virginia, Jennifer K. Hoffman, Rockville, Maryland, Ashley A. Harmon, Crofton, Maryland, Lauren R. Hartman, Lancaster, and Adam Turner, San Diego, California; three great grandchildren, Rowan Hartman and Allie and Damon Harmon.

Services will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the Calvary United Methodist Church, Wiconisco with her pastor, Pastor Annette Shutt, officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow in the church social hall. Private burial will be held in the Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.
