Joan E. Unger

Joan E. Unger, 83, of Tower City, passed away early Sunday morning, March 20, 2022 at the Broad Mountain Nursing Home, Frackville with her husband by her side.
 
She was born in Clarks Valley, November 3, 1938, a daughter of the late Charles and Blanche (Carl) Brown. Joan was a 1956 graduate of Porter Tower High School and graduated from beauty school in Harrisburg.
 
She owned and operated a beauty salon for many years.
 
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Muir.
 
Joan was  a meticulous housekeeper and took great pride in her interior decorating skills and her appearance. Without a doubt, her love and pride for her husband, sons, granddaughters and great granddaughters were the highlight of her life.
 
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Jay L. Unger, two sons; Brian Unger (Lisa) and Scott Unger (April Bush), both of Tower City, one brother; Arthur Brown (Barbara), Womelsdorf, four granddaughters; Heather Lehman (Travis), Bryanne Unger (fiance Kirk Sanderson), Brooke Unger and Laurel Unger, three great granddaughters; Regan, Reese and Riley. A sister-in-law, Linda Shoop, Tower City, four nephews; Matthew, Jarrett and Colt Brown and Joe Shoop.
 
Following Joan's wishes services will be private at the convenience of the family.
