John M. "Butch" Hoffman, 79, of Dornsife, formerly of Dayton, passed away early Wednesday morning December 31, 2025 at his home.
Born and raised in Williamstown on Wednesday, June 26, 1946, a son of the late Joseph Hoffman and Kathryn Finley Barnes. He was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School.
Butch was a United States Army Veteran. He then went on to serve 30 years with the Army National Guard, stationed out of Fort Indiantown Gap. Following his retirement from the guards, he worked for the former Don's Food Rite, Lykens and MSI, Shamokin Dam. He had also owned his own upholstery business.
Butch enjoyed the simple things in life, fishing, woodworking, and camping to name a few. He could often be found cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Hoffman, a sister Lynda Shoop and a great granddaughter Isabella.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Charlotte Strohecker Hoffman; two sons, Rodney Hoffman and Brian Hoffman and his wife Bridget; grandchildren, Kati, Alexis, Evan, Tyler, Allen, Griffin and Aiden; great grandchildren, Khloe, Sadie, Gabrielle and Brady; a brother, Randy Hoffman.
A celebration of Butch's life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the chapel. Butch will be laid to rest privately in the Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown beside his beloved daughter, Karen.
