John W. Kelly, Sr., 87, of Tower City, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.
Born in Williamstown on Sunday, October 30, 1938, a son of the late Clarence and Ann Lotsko Kelly. John was a graduate of the former Porter Tower High School.
John was very active with the Tower City community, serving on the Tower City Borough Council for several years. John and his wife Pat owned and operated Kelly's Furniture Store for over 57 years, retiring in 2015. He also owned a waste removal business, paving business, and coal delivery business, as well as owning numerous rental properties throughout the valley.
John enjoyed going to the casino and traveling. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his ability to socialize with anyone. He always looked forward to his midnight walks from one end of the borough to the other. His dog Tilly was his constant companion, and he missed her dearly. Above all else, his family meant the world to him.
Surviving are his wife and best friend, Patricia Yustat Kelly, to whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage with; his three children, Kim Reibsane and her husband Dave, John Kelly, Jr., and Jonna Kelly-Pribilla and her husband Bob, all of Tower City; seven grandchildren, Mandi, Brandi, Mike, Matt, Heather, Tiana, and Bronson; eight great grandchildren, Anthony, Alexandria, Johonna, Chase, Cayden, Sarah, Natalie, and Aubrey.
Services will be held at a later date.
