Judith Schell Obituary

Judith Ann Schell, 75, of Dauphin, loving mother of two, and adoring wife to husband Charles Schell, passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 11, 2023, after a courageous 5-year battle with dementia.

Judy was a twin to Marie McNamara, born at home on February 24, 1948, to John Francis and Anna Mae (Buggy) McNamara in Williamstown, and grew up surrounded by her three other siblings, Robert McNamara (Donna), Jean Daniel (Larry), Patrick McNamara (Irene), and a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Judy was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others, and she incorporated that into her own family as a spouse and mother. She met her husband in 1964 at a local high school dance in Lykens, and they married on May 13, 1967.

In her career, Judy was employed by Appleton Papers, Inc., where she worked for 25 years. After retiring from Appleton Papers, she worked as a Licensing Agent for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board where she eventually retired after 10 years.

As a mother of two to her children Angela Schell Kenno (David) and John Gregory Schell, and grandmother to Zachary Charles Kenno (Melissa) and Emma Mae Kenno, she was generous, loving, kind, and unconditionally supportive.

She had the biggest heart. She was a quiet person, but also very witty and fun! She was selfless, independent, sensitive, and incredibly compassionate. She loved spending time with her family, vacations, sewing, flower gardening, and talking and laughing with her lifelong friend Sherry on the phone.

Judy was predeceased by her parents, John and Mae McNamara; mother in law Anna Schell; brother Robert McNamara and his wife Donna; brother-in-laws Larry Daniel and Donald Kauffman.

She is survived by her husband, two children, two grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, one sister-in-law, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. Family will notify loved ones where an interment service will be conducted in the fall of 2023.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a gift in memory be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Lingelstown Road, Harrisburg PA, 17110.
