Junior Harner Sr. Obituary

Junior A “JR” Harner Sr., 89, of Tremont, passed away Saturday November 19th at his home, with his loved ones by his side.  

Born at the Ashland hospital to William & Mable Morgan Harner April 18th, 1933.

In addition to his wife Betty L. Fisher Harner, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Ney, and 2 grandsons, Benjamin Harner & Michael Ney.

He was an independent coal miner for many years, owning a coal mine in Molleystown. Junior was a faithful member of Jehovah’s Witness’s, Tremont, joining in 1950.

Over the years, he enjoyed lots of things, going to the flea markets, grocery shopping and buying, collecting and sorting through baseball cards. He was an avid Phillies fan and NY Yankee fan. Junior became an eccentric collector of many things but above all, he had a love for bicycles since he was a little boy, which he turned into a bicycles business that he operated for over 50 years, Harner’s Bicycles. 

Surviving are his children Gail Graver, husband Robert, Tremont, William Harner, wife Monique, Myerstown, Junior A Harner Jr., Pine Grove, and his beloved daughter Lisa Cooper, husband Clint, Tremont; 11 grandchildren, including Ashley who always held a special place in his heart, numerous great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; one remaining sister, Tilly Wolfgang, Valley View.

Funeral service will be held on Friday November 25th, 2022 at 11 am from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Home Inc, Tower City. There will be a viewing from 10 am until the time of the service at the chapel. Final resting place will be at Donaldson cemetery, where he will once again be reunited with his wife.
