Karen D. Mione, 77, of Tower City, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg after a courageous fight with Parkinsons Disease.
Born in Pottsville, May 26, 1945 a daughter of the late James L. and Naomi R. Kessler Dinger. Karen was a 1963 graduate of Porter-Tower City High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1967 from Kutztown University.
She began her teaching career at Williams Valley School District in 1968 where she taught High School English for 34 years retiring in 2002.
Karen was an active and faithful member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin where she was formerly a member of the Consistory, Ladies Aide and former church Secretary. She was always willing to lend a hand wherever needed.
She enjoyed being out and socializing, whether it be taking bus trips, being on a bowling league or just visiting friends and family. She will be remembered for always sending greeting cards, her love for reading, doing puzzles, crocheting and sewing.
Her happiest times were being surrounded by her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, her family, friends and church family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rudolph A. Mione, November 4, 1996.
Surviving are her son, Dominic A. Mione and his wife Jasmynn, Tower City; her granddaughter, Violet Mione, two brothers, James Dinger Jr. and his wife Joan, Hummelstown and Darryl Dinger, Orwin. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:00 am from St. Peter's UCC, Orwin with Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held from the church on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also Saturday from 9-10 a.m.
