Karen Shadle Obituary

Karen J. Shadle, 74, of Elizabethville, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday March 27, 2022, while visiting her niece and family in Pasadena, Maryland.
 
Born in Wiconisco, March 10, 1948, a daughter of the late Leroy and Loie Thompson Hand. Karen was a 1966 graduate of Williams Valley High School.
 
She had formerly worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Insurance. She retired as a bank teller from Mid Penn Bank, Lykens.
 
Karen was an active member of the former Wesley United Methodist Church, Wiconisco where she was a communion steward and auditor. She is a current member of the Immanuel/Wesley United Methodist Church, Loyalton.
 
An avid reader, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, traveling, gardening, jarring, cooking and baking, especially her chocolate cake with caramel icing and peanut butter pie. Her life revolved around her family whom she was extremely proud of and always looked forward to family get togethers at her home.
 
She will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife, mom, sister, aunt and friend, who will be deeply missed.
 
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Ralph H. Shadle, her two sons; Keith A. Shadle and Kevin A. Shadle, both of Elizabethville, a sister; Linda Pluswick and her husband Leo, Halifax, a brother; Terry Hand and his wife Faye, Tower City, her lifelong friend and travel companion, Nan Smeltz, Lykens. Several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Pastor William Romberger officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville. Visitation will be from 10-11 am at the chapel.  
 
Memorial donations in Karen's name may be made to the Immanuel/Wesley United Methodist Church,  5565 State Rt. 209, Lykens, PA 17048.
