Kathie Jean (Long) Dresel, 72, of Wiconisco, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Penn State Health, Hampden Medical Center.
She was born in Harrisburg on January 4, 1953, the daughter of the late George and Dorothy Long. Kathie courageously fought pancreatic cancer for two years. She was a 1970 graduate of Williams Valley High School.
Kathie's life was centered around her love of God, family, friends, and the many lives she touched along the way. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, church secretary, cub scout leader, and active participant within her community.
She enjoyed special times of family get-togethers throughout the years and was always supportive of her grandchildren's activities. She enjoyed times of travel with her husband, as well as with her lady friends to special getaways and weekend trips.
Kathie is survived by her husband of 52 years, John; her sons, Lyle and Jordan (Amanda); grandsons, Brady and Hayden; brother George Long; nephews George N. Long (Katie) and Christopher Long (Jamie), along with two great nieces Zoey and Bryn Long, also Dylan Smith who was like another son to her.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Williamstown Ambulance Association, Andrews/Patel Oncology, Family Practice Center of Lykens (Thank you Hannah), Hospice of Central PA, Rev. James Hess, and the Dimon Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at St. James Independent Church, Halifax, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the church. Kathie will be laid to rest in the Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco. Following the services at the cemetery, everyone is invited to the Wiconisco Fire Company where there will be a luncheon and time of fellowship.
