Lenwood "Len" Bixler, Jr. Obituary

Lenwood "Len" Bixler, Jr., 60, of Lykens, passed away very unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at his camp along the Juniata River.

Born in Harrisburg on Wednesday, November 10, 1965, a son of the late Lenwood Sr. and J. Irene Underkoffler Bixler. He was a graduate of the former Lykens Christian School.

Len was a dedicated employee with Hearth & Home Technologies, where he spent over 35 years as an engineer technician.

He was extremely proud to be a firefighter. Len was a life member of the Wiconisco Fire Company, where he formerly served as First Assistant Chief for over 20 years. Len currently was an active member of the Lykens Fire Company. He was also a member of the Dauphin County Firemen's Association. His commitment to his community was second to none.

Len was a huge train enthusiast. He was excited he was able to see "Big Boy" pass by his camp earlier Wednesday morning. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Len was the king of do-it-yourself, having the ability to fix and build almost anything. His happiest times were spent with Connie at his camp in Leshville, which he referred to as "his sanctuary." Family was everything to Len, and he was extremely proud of his children. There was nothing he would not do for them, and he will be remembered as a wonderful provider.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Connie Wertz Bixler; two children, Megan Bixler and her husband Adam Hoffman, and Michael Bixler and his wife Sydney Patton; three sisters, Linda Bixler, Pam Eshleman, and Janice Lawrence and her husband Doug; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Len is also survived by his beloved corgi Benji, who was his constant companion.

A Celebration of Len's Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11:00 am from the Calvary United Methodist Church, Wiconisco, with his pastor, Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the church. Following the service, a procession will leave the church to the Wiconisco Fire Company where a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Len's memory can be made to any local fire company.
