Linda L. Hart, 83, of Lykens, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at UPMC Harrisburg.
She was born in Lykens on October 31, 1941, a daughter of the late Joseph and Vera Poole Stotelmyer. A beloved member of her community, Linda was a lifelong resident of Lykens, and she deeply cherished the town she called home.
She was a 1958 graduate of Lykens High School, and she remained active with the Lykens Alumni Association throughout her life, always looking forward to reconnecting with old friends.
Following high school, Linda worked as a secretary with United Telephone Company, where she was employed for twelve years. She then devoted herself fully to raising her family, which remained the center of her life.
Linda’s life was one of faith, service, and devotion to others. She was a pillar of the Lykens United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully as church secretary for 40 years, retiring only last year. Her involvement extended far beyond administrative work. She was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, choir member, and an active member of both the United Methodist Women and the District United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Lykens Cemetery Association.
Above all, Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a cherished sister, and a loyal friend. She lovingly cared for her brother Wayne for many years before his passing, a testament to her unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Linda was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Wayne Stotelmyer, and her sister, Shirley Schreffler.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, William D. Hart, and her four children whom she adored: Elizabeth Ann Hart (David) of Mechanicsburg, Carrie Lynne Miller of Pottstown, Nathan William Hart (Jeff) of Pittsburgh, and Amanda Leigh Poffenberger (Charlie) of Virginia. She was the proud grandmother of Winston Poffenberger and Maeve Miller. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Linda's life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Lykens United Methodist Church with her Pastor John Lesher officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm at the church. Following the service, a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held in the church social hall.
Memorial donations in Linda's name can be made to Lykens U.M. Church, 527 N. Second Street, Lykens, PA 17048 or the Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville PA 17901.
