Merwin L. Hatter, 93, a lifelong resident of Donaldson, passed away peacefully Wednesday night, July 31, 2024 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Donaldson, June 1, 1931, a son of the late Ralph Merwin and Mary Catherine Morgan Hatter.
Merwin was a graduate of Frailey Township and Tremont High School, receiving diplomas from both schools.
He was proud United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Era.
He was a retired supervisor from Quaker Alloy Casting Company, Myerstown.
Merwin was a member of the Pine Grove American Legion. His greatest times were spent surrounded by his loving family, although he did enjoy his trips to Wendy's for dinner and to the casino. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and being in the outdoors.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife of 67 years, Nancy L. Miller Hatter, 2021; three sons, Donald, 2019, Ronald, 2024, and Gary, 2024; a grandson, Shannon, 2024; He was also preceded in death by a brother, David, 2020, and his wife Linda, 2024.
He is survived by his son, Mark Hatter and his wife Pam, Tremont; a daughter-in-law, Sally Hatter, Donaldson; sister-in-law, Barbara Bohrman, Schuylkill Haven; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Jeremy, Donald, Derrick, Alaina, and Alyssa; nine great grandchildren, Kody, Katelyn, Brenden, Brittanie, Sloan, Alex, Kylie, Ayden, and Austen; great great grandchildren, Abigail, Kash, Flint, Tate, and Krew arriving later this month; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Donaldson Community Cemetery with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating.
Memorial donations in Merwin's memory can be made to the Donaldson Fire Company, 1 West Center Street, Tremont, PA 17981, or the Pine Grove American Legion, 42 S Tulpehocken St, Pine Grove, PA 17963.
