Raymond N. Gilligbauer, Sr., 83, of Halifax, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his camp at the Pillow Campground.
Born in Coal Twp., October 27, 1938, a son of the late Wilbert and Katie Gilligbauer. Ray was a United States Army Veteran.
He retired from Firestone, Mechanicsburg. He worked for many years as a custodian with the Halifax School District.
He was a member of the Millersburg American Legion. Ray loved being around people, whether it was at his camp in Pillow, dancing, especially the Polka, playing cards, and attending flea markets. He enjoyed going to the beach and river. He will be remembered for never having a bad word to say about anyone. Once you were his friend, you were his friend for life.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Edith Lesher and a step-daughter, Dawn Berry.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. Alberts Gilligbaurer, and just celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary, a daughter, Darlene of Shamokin; two sons, Raymond N. Gilligbauer, Jr., Auburn and Rodney N. Gilligbauer, Millersburg; stepchildren, Dyrle Alberts, Enterline, Lisa Via, Halifax and Ryan Via, Downingtown. A sister, Joyce Dent, Shamokin. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home., Inc., Tower City. Burial will be in Bowermans Cemetery, Enterline. Viewing will be from 12-1 pm at the funeral home.
