Raymond H. Welker

Raymond H. Welker, 91, a lifelong resident of Wiconisco, passed away early Monday morning, January 27, 2025 at his home.

Born in Wiconisco on Sunday, March 19, 1933, a son of the late Joseph and Irene Starnowsky Welker. Ray attended the former Wiconisco High School.

He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

Ray was retired from Gold Mills, Pine Grove.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Wiconisco, a life member of the Wiconisco Fire Company, and a member of the Williamstown American Legion.

Ray was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking his walks throughout Wiconisco and in the mountains. He will be remembered for his love and devotion for his family. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David Welker and a grandson, Forrest Welker, whom he and his wife raised; he was also preceded by three sisters and one brother.

Surviving are his loving wife, Goldie Ammons Welker, with whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this upcoming March; his three children, Raymond Welker, Lykens, Kevin Welker, Wiconisco, and Brenda Edmonds and her husband Charles, Tamaqua; grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services, will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City, with his pastor, Annette Shutt officiating. Viewing will be from 10-11 at the chapel. Ray will be laid to rest with military honors in the Calvary Cemetery, Wiconisco. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow in the Calvary United Methodist Church Social Hall, Wiconisco.
